Luxury vinyl plank & tile

LVP and LVT Flooring Installation

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) give you a realistic wood or stone look that handles everyday spills, pets and busy households. We install click-lock, glue-down and peel-and-stick products over properly prepared floors.

Where LVP shines

A practical floor for real life

LVP and LVT are a common, practical choice for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, mudrooms and basements. They’re easy to clean, low-maintenance and stand up well to pets, kids and busy traffic. They can also go right over properly prepared concrete.

Most LVP can be installed the same day it’s delivered, and it can be stored in your garage or inside the house beforehand. Strong direct sun can heat vinyl, so for rooms with big sunny windows we choose a product and installation method suited to it and leave the right expansion gaps.

Still deciding? Compare floors in our flooring guide or see laminate installation.

What we install

  • Click-lock (floating) planks and tiles, over a pad when the product needs one
  • Glue-down vinyl with an adhesive made for the product
  • Peel-and-stick vinyl, rolled with a heavy roller for proper adhesion
  • Removal of old flooring, subfloor preparation, transitions and baseboards
  • Appliance disconnect and reset when the floor work requires it

Before you choose

What makes an LVP floor last

A flat surface

Thin planks can show dips and bumps in the floor underneath, and an uneven surface can make the floor move or break the locking system. Light preparation is normal; bigger leveling is quoted separately.

A quality product

You’re welcome to choose your own flooring. Very cheap, clearance or discontinued products can have weak locking systems and little manufacturer support, and installation can’t fix a defective product. We’ll tell you if a product looks risky.

Honest water resistance

LVP handles everyday spills well, but water ratings depend on the exact product, and water can still get underneath through edges and seams. Glue-down products may need moisture testing, especially over concrete.

Our process

How we install LVP and LVT

  1. Step 1: Measure and check the floor

We measure, check how flat the floor is and what’s underneath, and help you choose the product and method.

  2. Step 2: Delivery

LVP usually doesn’t need an acclimation period, so it can typically go in the day it arrives. The manufacturer’s instructions always come first.

  3. Step 3: Removal and preparation

Old flooring comes out when it’s part of your estimate. We do light preparation; leveling or concrete sealing is quoted when it’s needed.

  4. Step 4: Installation

Click-lock floors go over the right pad (never a second pad under attached-pad planks), glue-down floors over a compatible adhesive, and peel-and-stick floors are rolled.

  5. Step 5: Trim and transitions

Baseboards or quarter round go back on over the expansion gap. Most small, standard transitions are included.

  6. Step 6: Walk through

We walk through the finished floor with you and hand over care instructions and your warranty information.

Pricing

Typical LVP and LVT prices

Approximate labor guidelines, not quotes. Flooring and pad material are priced separately.

Listed separately in your estimate

  • Removing the old flooring, priced by flooring type
  • Leveling, repairs or concrete sealing, when the floor needs it
  • Appliance disconnect and reset, when the floor work requires it
  • Furniture moving, if you’d like us to handle it
  • Pad material, when the product needs a separate pad

Parts and repairs to old or worn plumbing connections are not included. We generally don’t move pianos, large pool tables or safes.

Adding on later

Continuing an existing LVP floor

LVP and laminate can’t be feathered into an old floor the way hardwood can. To continue an existing floor into a new room, the new planks must be exactly the same brand, product run and color. Then we can sometimes take apart a section and continue the installation, or finish the new area against the old one with a T-molding.

If the product has been discontinued, a seamless continuation may not be possible. Keeping a few spare boxes in a dry place makes future repairs much easier.

We don’t install LVP over

  • Carpet or other soft flooring
  • Unstable or unsuitable surfaces

The surface underneath must be solid, stable and properly prepared. The flooring manufacturer’s installation requirements always come first.

What customers say about our lvp / lvt installation

We loved all the work Vision Flooring LLC did for us. We upgraded our floors and stairs. We also installed new LVP vinyl plank flooring in our basement. Everything turned out great. Alex was great to work with, he knows a lot about construction and was able to answer all our questions.

FAQ

LVP and LVT questions

Is LVP waterproof?

LVP and LVT handle everyday spills very well, but water ratings depend on the exact product, and water can still get underneath through edges and seams. Quality matters: very cheap planks can have weak locking systems.

Does LVP need time to acclimate?

Usually not. LVP and LVT can usually be installed the same day they are delivered, unless the manufacturer says otherwise.

How is LVP installed?

We install click-lock (floating), glue-down and peel-and-stick LVP and LVT, depending on the product and the room. It can go over properly prepared concrete. We don’t install it over carpet or other soft flooring.

Why does my subfloor need to be flat for LVP?

Thin planks show dips and bumps underneath, and an uneven surface can make the locking system fail. Light preparation is normal; bigger leveling work is quoted separately.
