Baseboards
Baseboard Installation & Replacement: Top Questions Answered
Baseboard installation in Everett, WA: MDF, pine, poplar and stain-grade baseboards, quarter round and shoe molding, with new floors or on their own.
Baseboards, casing & shoe molding
Finish your floors with clean, tight trim. We install all types of baseboards, door and window casing, quarter round and base shoe, with your new hardwood, LVP or laminate, or as a project on its own.
What we do
We focus on floors and the trim that goes with them: baseboards, door and window casing, quarter round and shoe molding. Read baseboard installation and replacement: top questions answered.
New or reused?
New floors often mean taking the baseboards off and putting them back. We can remove and reinstall your existing baseboards. If a piece breaks, we repair or glue it when we can. If it can’t be saved, we show it to you, and the replacement is priced and approved separately, so reusing old trim is never guaranteed.
Reinstalled baseboards usually need fresh filling, caulk and paint once they’re back on.
It’s your choice; neither is automatically required. Both cover the small expansion gap that hardwood, laminate and LVP need around the edges of the room. Tip for your painter: don’t caulk the bottom edge where the trim meets the floor, because the floor needs room to move.
Either of us. We bring trim catalogs to your estimate; once you choose a profile, we price that exact trim. You’re also welcome to supply your own material.
Pricing
Approximate guidelines per linear foot, not quotes. Installation prices are labor only.
| Item | Typical labor |
|---|---|
| New baseboard installationLabor only | about $4 per linear ft |
| Door and window casingLabor only; same rate as baseboards | about $4 per linear ft |
| Quarter round or base shoeLabor only | about $2 per linear ft |
| Minimum project priceAlso applies to baseboard-only work | $800 |
Casing material costs are similar to baseboard material. Priced at your estimate: removing and reinstalling existing trim, removal and disposal, nail-hole filling and caulking, trim material when we supply it, and replacing trim that can’t be reused.
A 12 × 14 ft bedroom has about 52 ft of wall. Take out a 3 ft doorway and that’s about 49 linear feet of baseboard.
Measure each wall, add them up and subtract the doorways to get a rough number before your estimate.

Alex was very knowledgeable and provided the best estimate experience of the vendors we selected for quotes- he also had a very competitive price. He was able to work us in to his schedule in a very timely manner. The job was quite a bit involved but Alex stayed on schedule; the site was maintained in a very clean way each day which was much appreciated as we had to live in the house while he was working for most of the time. Communication was good. The craftsmanship is really spectacular, with framing around the fireplace, etc. We had white oak installed on the entire 1st floor, on the staircase, and upstairs landing, and Alex demo'd the old carpet, laminate, vinyl, and some hardwood that the house had previously. We also had all of the baseboards replaced with taller ones. The final product looks better than we thought it could look, and has proven to be durable to date with two dogs in the house. We did not stain the wood and they used the Swedish Finish which was the right choice for our home- we are so glad we followed Alex's advice on this as the floors look amazing. The smell went away very quickly, and the floors held up very well without a scratch during a party a week after they were finished. I will recommend this company to all of our friends and family, and will absolutely call them again if we ever need flooring or refinishing.
The job was performed well by Alex (the owner) and his team and met our high expectations. Alex was professional and punctual. When he said he’d be at the house, he was, even working over the labor day weekend to finish the work. Alex delivered on everything he told us in the bid and it was exactly at the cost proposed. The job was well coordinated. Because we were having a lot of work performed, we were initially…

Because we were having a lot of work performed, we were initially concerned that it would be extended out beyond what we could deal with. Alex was able to complete the job in a short timeframe (3 weeks) and the quality of the work was excellent. We were impressed with the attention to details. Alex gave us a choice of stains to choose from and left extra for us to do some additional trim work on the fireplace mantel. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who wants to ensure a very high quality job with no surprises!
